Smells Like You

So I drown it out like I always do,
Dancing through our house with the ghost of you.

-Ghost Of You, 5 Seconds of Summer

Sometimes in the morning, when I wake up, alone and cold in my bed, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
Warm and Comfy.
Smelling like home.

Sometimes after a tiring day at work, when my head hurts, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
With a cup of coffee and hugs.
Smelling like love.

Sometimes at dinner, when I order take out, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
With a smile and puppy eyes.
Smelling like the ocean.

Sometimes in the evening, when I am strolling alone, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
With a bottle of water and singing loudly.
Smelling like happiness.

Sometimes after a happening day, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
With a wonderous laugh and excitable mind.
Smelling like cotton candy.

Sometimes on a lazy Sunday, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
With a blanket and a lap.
Smelling like comfort.

Sometimes, late at night, when I can’t sleep, I wish you were here.
Next to me.
With soothing music and a book.
Smelling like cigarettes.

But you aren’t here.
You aren’t next to me.
It smells like despair and heartbreak.
